Rishi Tea and Botanicals Ad Series

Who doesn’t love a good cup of tea? This project required 3 separate yet cohesive ad posters. The choice to mash up the loose leaf tea and a tree seemed appropriate since Rishi prides itself on the organic origin of its products, and the icon of a tree was at top of mind. Rather than just change the subject of the photo across the ads (in this case, the flavor of tea,) I decided to tell a heartwarming, non-linear story of a bird feeding its family to build atmosphere and convey emotion. Everything from the placement of the leaves, to the bird illustrations, to the brushstrokes of the background images was done by hand. To achieve this overlayed look, I printed out vector traces of dead, leafless trees, and after tediously arranging the tea leaves, I photographed each composition. These photos, the illustrations, and the hand-painted background brushstrokes were composited in Photoshop, and type was set in InDesign
